Apply for the FAFSA

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an application for Federal Grants (free money), Work-study (money you earn), and Student loans (money you pay back).

Many scholarships require the FAFSA to be completed and anyone planning on college, regardless of their financial status, should complete the application.

CNM has many scholarship options for both new and continuing students.

Our scholarships include featured scholarships, State of New Mexico scholarships, CNM programs with scholarship availability, and more.

Qualify for the NM Opportunity and Legislative Lottery Scholarships

The NM Opportunity Scholarship and Legislative Lottery Scholarship cover a significant amount of tuition and other fees for CNM students.

There is no application required for either scholarship; if you meet the eligibility criteria, the scholarship will be awarded.

Cruz Ortega

Cruz Ortega was born and raised in Albuquerque and has over 10 years of experience in Financial Aid.

Cruz’s principles align with CNM's Core Value of Caring and he's here to assist and guide you through the application process. Cruz’s goal is for students to walk away knowing he cares about their situation and needs and understands the challenges they face when pursuing higher education.

Gerald Romero, Jr.

Gerald Romero, Jr. is a first-generation college student from Las Vegas, NM and raised in Albuquerque. Many years after finishing high school, Gerald worked at Financial Aid as a work-study student while attending CNM.

Gerald is a testament that education has no expiration date and is deeply aware of the obstacles faced by students who are either entering or returning to the academic world.
