Degrees and Certificates

The Film and Digital Media program at CNM prepares you for a wide array of opportunities in in film, television, or digital media technology. Guided by experienced instructors, you’ll collaborate on a variety of projects with the CNM Art Department and gain valuable skills in areas such as camera work, grip, electric, and digital production techniques. We offer a diverse selection of degree and certificate pathways to fit your career goals, including both Film and Digital Media options.

Film Pathways

If you are interested in pursuing a career in film and television production, our film-specific degree and certificate programs are right for you. As a student in one of our film pathways, you will learn key aspects of the industry, from cinematography and editing to lighting and sound. Many of our graduates go on to find rewarding positions as crew members on motion pictures, television shows, and digital media projects.

Digital Media Pathway

In addition to our film pathways, CNM offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in Digital Media. In this program, you will gain hands-on experience with the latest software tools used in the industry for tasks such as graphic design, 2D modeling, desktop publishing, and audio/video editing. Whether you want to work on websites, create digital artwork, or edit video and audio for digital platforms, this degree option prepares you for a wide range of creative careers in the digital media field.

State-of-the-Art Facilities and Industry Connections

We're also excited to announce the ongoing transformation of the historic Albuquerque Rail Yards into a cutting-edge film production training center. This new facility will provide state-of-the-art, hands-on training that meets industry standards, ensuring you’re well-equipped for the challenges of the ever-evolving film and digital media landscape.

Additional Information for Film and Digital Media Students

Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) saves students time and money on their degree or certificate program at CNM. If you are interested in earning college credit towards the Film and Digital Media program, please review the Film and Digital Media CPL Request Form.
The CNM Film and Digital Media program prepares you for transfer to four-year institutions, providing a pathway to further study in film, digital media, or related fields.
As a CNM student, you will have access to a variety of services and resources to help make your educational journey successful and enjoyable.

Film and Video Editors and Camera Operators

Assembling the images that meet a director's vision in television or film, film/video editors and camera operators are central to the creative process.
The median annual wage for film and video editors was $66,600 in May 2023.¹
Overall employment of film and video editors and camera operators is projected to grow 3 percent from 2023 to 2033, about as fast as the average for all occupations.¹
About 7,100 openings for film and video editors and camera operators are projected each year, on average, over the decade.¹
