How do faculty utilize Service Learning?

1. Faculty members work with the Service Learning coordinator to carefully choose agencies whose needs are related to their teaching objectives.
2. Instructors incorporate Service Learning to meet the objectives of their course content.
3. Some instructors have students complete assignments such as journals, papers, readings, class discussions, writing assignments, and class presentations. Other instructors may allow Service Learning in lieu of another class assignment. Others use Service Learning projects as an optional (but preferred) method of earning a portion of their grade.

The Service Learning Program is a proud recipient of a Corporation for National and Community Service Grant. The program is also the 1999 National Bellwether award winner and the 2004 Community College National Center for Community Engagement Service Learning and Civic Engagement award winner.
