Degrees and Certificates
The ABE program is a separate, non-college credit component of CNM. You will receive the same services and benefits as other CNM students; however, ABE students do not follow the traditional admission or registration process and are not eligible for financial aid.
Please note: If you're 16 or 17 years old, you must provide the Underage Permission Form (Formulario de Permiso de Menores) in order to proceed to registration. Learn more about applying to CNM as an Underage Student.
The Adult Basic Education program acknowledges and utilizes the experience, wisdom, and needs of adult learners to provide a pathway that can lead to success in college, careers, and the community. We offer non-credit courses in basic reading, writing, math, science, and social studies to prepare you for our English as a Second Language (ESL) program or the High School Equivalency exams. Each of the options below is offered in five-week courses at four different levels.
English as a Second Language
CNM's English as a Second Language (ESL) program can help you improve your proficiency in English for professional, academic, or personal reasons. You will study reading, writing, speaking, listening, and US culture while acquiring the language and self-confidence to handle daily challenges. Our instructors are qualified English as a Second Language (ESL) professionals. Learn more about the ESL program.
High School Equivalency
CNM's High School Equivalency (HSE) courses will prepare you for the General Education Development (GED) test or High School Equivalency Test (HiSET). Our non-credit HSE courses are offered in language arts, math, science, and social studies, with Spanish instruction available for HSE language arts and math courses. Learn more about the HSE program.
