College & Career High School

College & Career High School (CCHS) offers Albuquerque students the opportunity to earn both high school and college credits for free through a dual-credit program on CNM's Main Campus.

About

College & Career High School (CCHS) is a unique dual-credit program operated through a partnership between Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) and Central New Mexico Community College (CNM). Located on CNM's Main Campus, CCHS offers students the opportunity to begin their college experience while still in high school, earning college credits toward an associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or certificate.

Benefits and Opportunities

  • Dual Graduation: Earn a high school diploma and college credits simultaneously.
  • Free Tuition and Books: CNM tuition is free, and APS covers textbook costs.
  • Advanced Start: Many CCHS students graduate with enough credits to enter a university as juniors.
  • Support Services: Access to CNM’s student support systems, including free tutoring, libraries, academic advising, and academic coaches.

Achievements

Since opening in 2013, CCHS has consistently earned an “A” rating in the New Mexico Public Education Department’s school grading report. In 2020, it scored second highest among all public high schools in the state and third highest when charter schools were included.

Mission and Values

We support our diverse student population in achieving dual graduation. CCHS aims for dual graduation, supporting students to earn both a high school diploma and college credits.

Who Can Attend

CCHS is open to freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Students spend half of their day taking high school classes and the other half attending CNM classes. All classes taken at CNM count toward both their high school diploma and a college degree or certificate.

Tuition and Costs

At CCHS, college tuition and registration fees are free for high school students. Textbook costs for CNM classes are covered by APS, enabling families to save significantly on college education expenses. Students are responsible for additional fees required for some degree/certificate plans, such as tools, uniforms, or software. The CNM Foundation can assist students with a financial need to help pay for course supplies, uniforms, and/or fees that are required by certain CNM courses.

Location

CCHS is housed in a state-of-the-art learning facility on CNM's Main Campus, providing an excellent environment for academic success.
