Enrollment Degree Status

Certificate / Degree Status

The Certificate / Degree Status is intended for students who are planning to earn a degree or certificate at CNM with a declared major (program of study). Review the Program of Study section in the Catalog for program information and requirements.

Non-Degree Status

The non-degree status is designed for students not pursuing a degree or certificate at CNM. Non-degree students:

  • generally cannot receive financial aid, veterans' educational benefits, or other assistance.
  • may change to a certificate/degree status by declaring a major.
  • are eligible to receive department-issued Skill Sets (check the Catalog for more information).

Admissions for Non-Credit Programs

Non-credit courses and programs offer skill development and adult basic education (including ESL and GED prep) without traditional college credit. See our CNM Ingenuity non-credit courses on Unmudl with no college application.

The School of Education provides free coursework and tutoring for GED prep, ESL improvement, occupational exploration, and college readiness.

Students are considered for admission to CNM without regard to gender, race, color, national origin, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, or marital status.

Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) does not discriminate based on sex and prohibits sex discrimination in any educational program or activity it operates, in compliance with Title IX. Additional Information

Individuals may be denied admission to CNM, enrollment in courses and/or programs and participation in certain CNM sponsored activities if it is determined that such access is likely to pose a serious threat to the safety of the applicant and/or members of the CNM community. Such determination would be made on a case-by-case basis by a review board under the guidance of the Dean of Students.
