Consortium Agreement
With UNM
The University of New Mexico and CNM have an agreement whereby enrollment in both schools may be combined for purposes of financial aid at one of the schools. The student would receive financial aid from the "home" school, the school from which the student is expected to graduate. For details and required forms see the Financial Aid Office at your "home" school. Consortium Agreement must be submitted on the Friday before the start of the term.
However, students should understand financial aid may be limited in covering classes at both schools if CNM is chosen as the home school. CNM is a trimester school and disburses/divides the federal portion of aid into three terms- Fall, Spring, Summer; whereas UNM is a semester school and disburses their aid in just two terms-Fall and Spring .
With Other Schools
Though CNM does not have a blanket agreement with other schools, it is possible to arrange an individual agreement on a school-by-school basis and receive financial aid based on combined enrollments at both schools. In such situations, the student will receive financial aid from the "home" school, which is generally the school from which the student is expected to graduate. To find out whether this arrangement is possible, contact the financial aid office at your "home" school for details. Consortium Agreement must be submitted on the Friday before the start of the term.
IMPORTANT - Remember that you are not allowed to receive financial aid from two institutions during the same term. Receiving financial aid at two institutions during the same term will result in an overpayment which must be repaid by the student before receiving additional Title IV aid.
