Scholarships for NM Residents
Scholarships for New Mexico residents include the CNM Legislative, General, Advantage and Graduation Incentive Scholarships. Awards are distributed with consideration for the student’s program of study with the intent of assisting students in the most useful way possible.
Eligibility Requirements
- Admitted to CNM with a major that is financial aid eligible
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
- Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or above
- Completion rate of 66.67% or better
- Be within maximum time frame (MTF)
- Enroll in at least 6 credit hours each term of classes level 0970 or higher
- Be a New Mexico Resident
New Eligibility Requirements for the Advantage Scholarship:
- Admitted to CNM and majoring in a certificate or degree program
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
- Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or above
- Completion rate of 66.67% or better
- Be within the maximum time frame (MTF)
- New Mexico Residents
- Enroll in at least 6 credit hours each term of classes level 0970 or higher
- Non-residents
- Eligible students may be awarded for up to six credit hours
Application Information
The myScholarship application is available online. Funds are awarded as students complete the application and meet scholarship requirements. Funds are limited and vary each year. A new online application must be completed for each academic year.
FAFSA Completion
Most CNM Institutional Scholarships require a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid(FAFSA). Students who cannot complete a FAFSA are encouraged to complete the CNM Scholarship Application to be considered for scholarships that do not have a FAFSA requirement. CNM offers state and institutional scholarships to New Mexico residents who do not have a Social Security Number and are unable to complete a FAFSA. Other scholarship requirements remain the same.
Scholarship Information
- CNM Legislative Scholarship - is a tuition scholarship awarded in fall and spring, it covers actual tuition charges and the registration fee.
- CNM General Scholarship - is a $900 scholarship divided equally between fall and spring, it is intended to assist students with educational expenses. The FAFSA is required.
- Opportunity Scholarship - provides tuition and fee assistance for students enrolled in two-year programs including credit-bearing certificate or associate degree programs in a public institution of higher education or Tribal College in New Mexico.
