First Time Logging into Your CNM Account

Find step-by-step instructions for CNM students, faculty and staff on how to access their accounts for the first time. Get started quickly and securely.

Your CNM Email and Username

Your CNM username is typically your first initial, last name, and sometimes a number. This is the first part of your email address before @cnm.edu.

Your CNM email address and password is sent to your personal email.

Logging into CNM Systems for the First Time

Faculty, staff, and students logging onto CNM accounts for the first time can set up their account by going to cnm.edu and selecting myCNM OR directly by going to my.cnm.eduAs a new CNM account holder, you can expect to log in and access online resources (e.g. myCNM, Outlook) approximately 90 minutes after your account is created.

  1. A dialog box asks for your CNM email address. Type your email address and select Next.

2. A dialog box asks for your temporary password. Type your temporary password and select Sign In.

Note: Your temporary password is the last 4 digits of your CNM ID and GoSuncats!

Setting Up Multifactor Authentication

CNM requires you set up multifactor authentication (MFA) on your account for added security. Besides your password, you need a phone, mobile app, or Yubikey as a second form of authentication to log in.

Changing Your New Password

Once your account is set up, you must change your password to make your account more secure.

Requirements for your CNM password:

  • Must be a minimum of 8 characters.

    Open a request via help.cnm.edu.

    All CNM users are governed by the Technology Use Policy.

    Contain at least three of the following:

    • Uppercase letters

    • Lowercase letters

    • Numbers

    • Symbols

  • New passwords cannot:

    • Repeat your current password.

    • Reuse your last 14 passwords.

    • Contain your name or CNM username.

  1. Go to myaccount.microsoft.com to change your password.

  2. In the Password section, select CHANGE PASSWORD. A dialog box displays.

  3. Type your old password, Create new password, and Confirm new password.

  4. Select Submit.

Note: Your new password will be used for all of CNM’s systems.
