CNM Self-Review Process
The CNM Self-Review process is an internal course review which utilizes the Faculty Self-Review Checklist with the help and recommendations from an Instructional Consultant from Innovation and Instructional Support.
Continuous improvement, course reviews, and training are requirements of the Higher Learning Commission and NC-SARA (national standards). At CNM we want to strive for a consistent and positive student experience.
The Self-Review Checklist is based on the Quality Matters (QM) standards. This checklist and process was developed by Innovation and Instructional Support in coordination with Distance Learning Advisory Committee (DLAC) and the Faculty Senate. Innovation and Instructional Support does not review the online checklists that are submitted outside of the formal course review process.
Course Evaluation Steps:
- Each term, Innovation and Instructional Support will provide a list of courses to be reviewed to the Dean of each school. The Dean will confirm the list and communicate to the faculty members.
- All courses with an online component (such as hybrid, blended, or Attend Anywhere) will be reviewed on a 3-year cycle.
- Each course in the review process will be assigned an Instructional Consultant (IC).
- The faculty member will complete the self-review checklist during the term.
- The IC will independently complete the self-review checklist.
- The IC will email the faculty member to set up a collaborative review meeting and will explore the faculty members completed self-review checklist.
- The IC will provide collaborative feedback, guidance, and suggestions for faculty, if applicable.
- Innovation and Instructional Support will provide support, training, and technical assistance for recommended course improvements.
