At Central New Mexico Community College (CNM), we are committed to reducing waste, water use, energy use, and our overall carbon footprint.

To support our sustainability efforts, CNM is adding Electric Vehicles (EV) to our fleet and EV charging stations for students, staff, and visitors to use when they park at our campuses. 

The vision of the Parking and Fleet Services Department is to add EV charging stations at all CNM campus locations, as we recognize the growing demand for EV charging stations across the city. CNM strives to be a leader in the community by providing the necessary resources for students, staff, and visitors to be successful at CNM. 

We look forward to the positive impacts that these EV efforts will have on campus and for our community as we all strive for a sustainable future.

Paying for EV Charging

Starting in Fall 2024, the pricing for EV charging is as follows:

  • First three hours: $0.25/kWh.
  • Beyond three hours: $1.50/hr + $0.25/kWh.

CNM provides several options for EV charging payments.    

  1. ChargePoint App 
    • Sign in to your account in the app and use it to pay.
    • You can also use the app to pay using Apple Pay, Google Pay, or PayPal. 
  2. Contactless credit or debit card 
    • Hold your card over the UIC reader symbol on the station. 
    • You can use a contactless credit card without a ChargePoint account or the ChargePoint app. 
  3. Apply Pay or Google Pay
    • Use your phone with NFC (Near Field Communication) technology to pay by tapping it at the station. 
    • You do not need a membership or registration.  
  4. Activated ChargePoint Card 
    • Tap your activated card on the card reader symbol on the station. 
    • Some roaming partner stations require a ChargePoint Card. 
  5. Toll-Free Number
    • Call the toll-free number displayed on the station to authorize charging.

Charging Your EV with ChargePoint

CNM works with ChargePoint to provide seamless payment for EV charging stations. With the free ChargePoint app, you can pay for EV charging using your preferred method, initiate charging your EV instantly, and control your charging activity from your mobile phone.
