New Mexico has a long and storied history with space and is now becoming a global hub for the next wave of technological development. To celebrate both our past and future with what lies beyond, CNM Ingenuity's ActivateNM and the City of Albuquerque are hosting the first “Space Fiesta” where experts and the public will come together to learn more about what comes next.

The event takes place Thursday, June 6 from 4-8 p.m. at the ABQ Rail Yards and admission is free. Inside there will be interactive tech exhibits including the opportunity to interact with cutting-edge robots, a startup showcase that features many of New Mexico’s innovative companies, and a wide variety of art installations inspired by the cosmos, including an in-depth look at the influence of the space industry on American design from the 1950s to the 1970s.

In addition to the exhibits there will be a number of keynote presentations on topics including:

  • New Mexico’s vision to create a broad Space Valley Coalition.
  • What it takes to adapt technology from the commercial sector to benefit U.S. Space Force missions.
  • A presentation on how green chile became the plant with the longest growth time on the International Space Station.
  • And more

Food and drinks will be provided free of charge by local vendors including Las Golondrinas Pie Company, Canvas Artistry, and Casa Cocktails.

“Set against the backdrop of New Mexico’s storied history and burgeoning future in space, Space Fiesta was designed to embody the theme that space is for everyone,” says Jeff Bargiel, Program Director at CNM Ingenuity. “We hope you can join us for this immersive experience that highlights the crucial role New Mexico has and will continue to play in pioneering our journey to the stars.”
