Andrea Sisneros Wichman Receives Prestigious 2025 New Mexico Women in Tech Award
Over the decade-plus that Andrea Sisneros Wichman has worked at CNM Ingenuity, she’s always had a side project. No matter whether she was running the Deep Dive bootcamps or in her current role as a Senior Director, she’s made it a priority to mentor women who are currently in or graduating from Ingenuity’s tech programs.
That mentoring has taken a broad form and included everything from helping them find childcare and financial aid, to internships and job placements. When asked why she’s spent so much time ensuring these women succeed, she has a clear and emphatic answer.
“Because that’s what equity looks like,” she says. “No one works alone in technology and women always make their teams better.”
All of this commitment is why Andrea was recently recognized as a Woman in Tech Honoree during the 2025 New Mexico Women in Technology Awards. She joined seven other women from around the state who currently work at organizations including PNM, Sandia National Laboratories, and the New Mexico Healthcare Authority.
Over her time at Ingenuity, Andrea has helped hundreds of women.
“With over 400 women graduating from our Deep Dive bootcamps while it was under my leadership, I personally mentored more than half, drawing on shared experiences as someone who has changed careers and reentered the workforce after motherhood,” she said.
All the women she’s mentored have come from diverse backgrounds. Some were reskilling for IT, others were entering the field for the first time, and many were returning to the workforce. By understanding their unique challenges, she found success by creating unique pathways to success and helping with the resources they needed from school to the workplace.
There are almost too many success stories to count, but one that stands out is Chamisa Edmo, who entered the Fullstack Web bootcamp on a scholarship. While Chamisa was in the program, Andrea supported her by providing timely and crucial financial support. Immediately after Chamisa graduated, Andrea helped her find freelance opportunities, and today she is a successful software developer, in graduate school, and focuses on integrating Indigenous Knowledgeways with AI and developing Data Sovereignty aligned tech. Chamisa develops decentralized frameworks and projects and conducts research in AI bias mitigation, focusing on the ethical integration of technology to empower Indigenous communities.
Jennifer Minnich is another success story. Andrea helped Jennifer get a contract with a FUSE Makerspace contractor immediately after graduating from the Fullstack Web Development bootcamp back in 2017. She was then hired as a Technical Project Manager, and has continued to climb the tech ladder. Today she’s working at an elite level as a Machine Learning Engineer at New Mexico Tech.
Going forward, Andrea says she has no plans to stop mentoring and advocating for more women in tech. Now, more than ever, is the time for women to get involved.
“My hope is that I can continue to provide resources for women who want to get into technology and allow as many women as possible to take advantage of our Deep Dive bootcamps. There’s lots of funding at the moment for women who want to take a bootcamp, so now is actually a great time to get involved.”
