CNM Ingenuity and City of ABQ Team Up on Driving Workforce Development
To help bolster the workforce of commercial drivers in Albuquerque, the City of Albuquerque is supporting CNM Ingenuity’s Commercial Driver's License (CDL) program by providing a bus for students to drive during their CDL training. Recognizing the critical role of commercial drivers in the local economy and for essential City services, the City of Albuquerque supports CDL training across the state.
"Our collaboration with CNM underscores our commitment to supporting career pathways in high-demand industries," said the City’s Chief Financial Officer Kevin Sourisseau. "By providing a bus for CNM’s CDL program, we are giving students an opportunity to practice on the vehicles that drive Albuquerque forward."
The CDL program at CNM Ingenuity, called ABQCDL, equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to obtain a commercial driver's license and pursue employment opportunities in various sectors such as transportation, logistics, and distribution.
"CNM continues to innovate and work with our partners to create meaningful, hands-on experiences for our students as we build the skilled workforce our state needs,” said Kyle Lee, CEO of CNM Ingenuity. "This bus will be a major asset for our CDL program and help us provide accessible, affordable, and high-quality training that meets the needs of our community. It’s also a great opportunity for community members to get this training and have opportunities for careers right here in the Albuquerque-metro area."
There is significant funding available that can cover up to the full cost of the training for interested individuals. For more information about CNM Ingenuity's CDL program, visit abqcdl.org.
