Program Information

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is a six-term program during which you will attain the knowledge, skills, and professional behaviors necessary for employment as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Physical Therapist Assistants work as part of a team to provide physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. PTAs help people of all ages who have medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their ability to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. The program will provide training in evidence-based physical therapy practice with sensitivity to differences in age, gender, and cultural background.

The PTA program includes classroom coursework, clinical lab work, and patient simulations to prepare you for three full-time clinical education experiences under the supervision of a clinical instructor. You are expected to be available daily on a full-time basis to accommodate the changing schedules inherent to a program of this nature.

The Physical Therapist Assistant program at CNM is an Accredited Program, as defined by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). Please read the Accreditation statement.
