National Registry (NREMT) Certification for EMT-B and EMT-I
- All students who successfully complete the EMT-Basic or AEMT Program will be eligible to take the National Registry certification examination. This is required to obtain a NM State License. Successfully passing this exam is one of the first steps to gaining EMT-Basic and or AEMT licensure in the State of New Mexico. Students are strongly encouraged to take the written exam within 14 to 30 days of course completion for optimum success.
-
Students must apply for certification to the National Registry directly (instructors are not allowed to apply on behalf of the student).
-
The National Registry will ask for verification of the classroom portion of their class and verification of the practical portion of their class.
-
Verification is done by the Program Director of the school in which they took their course. If the student took the course at CNM, the EMS Program Director can verify the classroom and skills portion. To do the verification, the EMS Program Director will need the student's CNM ID number, semester taken, and instructor name(s) for grade verification purposes.
-
Also please note, the National Registry does not notify the EMS Program Director that a student is awaiting classroom verification. Students must notify the EMS Program Director by e-mail with a request for verification.
