In CNM's Geographic Information Technology (GIT) program, you can explore the power of maps and geospatial data. As a GIT student, you'll engage in a rigorous curriculum that covers Geographic Information Systems (GIS), satellite-based mapping systems, remote sensing, land surveying, databases, and programming. With a strong emphasis on practical, lab-based learning, you'll gain the hands-on experience needed to excel in the geospatial industry or to continue your education in four-year or graduate programs.

Our experienced faculty design unique learning opportunities that enable you to apply your skills in real-world projects and gain hands-on experience in the field. For example, many of our GIT students have traveled to Clayton Lake to document, map, and model one of the largest dinosaur tracksites in the U.S.

The geospatial industry is rapidly growing, with high demand for skilled professionals. Geographic Information Systems and related technologies are widely used by government and private organizations, opening doors to careers in land surveying, environmental management, and land management.
