CNM's American Studies program draws on history, literature, critical theory, environmental justice, gender and sexuality studies. In this interdisciplinary program, you will investigate how systems of racism, colonialism, capitalism, nationalism, and gender and sexual normativity impact lives.
Our unique American Studies curriculum empowers you to ask questions and address issues facing our communities in the current moment. Our program is built on a foundation of critical pedagogy and designed for those who are interested in social responsibility and social justice.
American Studies is an excellent field if you are seeking a well-rounded education in the Humanities and Social Sciences that can lead to further education at four-year institutions and career opportunities in government and public policy, writing and journalism, teaching, museum and cultural institution work, and more.
