The Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program at CNM prepares you to become a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, a medical professional that uses high-frequency sound waves to create detailed images of the human body. In our comprehensive program, you will engage in classroom instruction, hands-on scanning, laboratory exercises, and clinical experiences across various medical facilities and outpatient diagnostic centers. Upon graduation, you will be well-prepared to sit for the national board exams administered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in specialty examination areas including abdomen, obstetrics and gynecology, and breast. Earning your RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) credential opens doors to numerous career opportunities, as graduates from CNM's rigorous program are in high demand across the country.

Additional Information for DMS Students

Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) saves students time and money on their degree or certificate program at CNM. Students interested in earning college credit towards the DMS program are encouraged to review the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Credit for Prior Learning Request Form.
The CNM Diagnostic Medical Sonography program prepares you for transfer to four-year institutions, providing a pathway to further study in sonography or related fields.
