Early Childhood Multicultural Education Field Experience
Birth - Third Grade Teacher
ECED 2120/2121: Curriculum Development through Play: Birth - Age 4*
This course requires students to complete 45 hours of field experience in an early childhood center working with children ages birth – four years throughout the entire CNM term.
ECED 2130/2131: Curriculum Development and Implementation: Age 3 - Grade 3*
This course requires students to complete 45 hours of field experience in an early childhood center or elementary school classroom working with students in Pre-K – third grade throughout the entire term.
*These two field experiences must be completed in different settings with different age groups and be approved/verified by the Education Department. Students may be required to obtain two separate background checks for these two courses. Students completing field hours in an early childhood center will need to complete a background check with CYFD. For students completing a practicum in a public school setting are required to obtain an approved district clearance separate from CYFD clearance.
- For both courses in the Birth- Third grade concentration, students will receive an email with information on applying for a field placement after registering for the course.
- All students will be required to fill out an online placement application in order to complete field hours.
- There are limited options for after-school hours, so students should plan to allow for observational hours to be completed Monday – Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
- Students must complete an online application for placement in an approved setting by the CNM Education Department.

ECED 2280/2281: Professional Relationships and Practicum
Both of the courses in the Program Administration concentration require students to complete 45 hours of field experience through the term. Most of the students enrolled in these courses will be completing hours in their current place of employment. Students who need assistance with these courses should contact their faculty or the Field Experience Coordinator.
Infant Family Studies Certificate**
ECED 2240/2241: Infant Toddler Growth and Development and Practicum
ECED 2150/2151: Relationships and Reflective Practice in Infant Family Studies and Practicum
Both of the courses in the Infant Family Studies concentration require students to complete 45 hours of field experience through the term. Most of the students enrolled in these courses will be completing hours in their current place of employment.
