Program Information

In CNM's Geology program, you will study the planet Earth, including the materials that make up the Earth, the processes that act on these materials, the evolution of the continents and life through time, and the science behind environmental issues.

Our instructors and curriculum provide students with the opportunity to closely examine the solids, liquids, and gasses that have shaped the Earth’s surface over time, making up its natural resources or hazards and constituting its ecosystems.

Further Your Education

There are many opportunities for community college students to work on research in labs in the Albuquerque area and across the country. Learn more by visiting our MSE Internships and Resources page.

CNM's Geology program is designed to meet the requirements for an Associate of Science in Geology from CNM and prepare you to obtain a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Geology at UNM, NMSU, NM Tech, or other universities in the region.

Students interested in transferring to a four-year institution should consult faculty or academic advisors within the respective Geology department to discuss transfer opportunities. You can refer to the catalog of your intended transfer institution for admission, program, course, and graduation requirements.
