AASN Program Information

The Nursing program has limited seats. This program requires you to complete a screening process before registering for classes. Learn more about the screening criteria and deadlines from Coordinated Program Entry

The Nursing program was established to assist with industry shortages by developing a workforce for the local market. Our program is designed to prepare you for employment in the nursing industry and provide advancement opportunities.

We focus on concepts of clear communication, critical thinking, and compassion when caring for patients. Our curriculum includes classroom, laboratory, and supervised clinical instruction. The program culminates with a one-on-one practicum experience in real, workforce settings. We combine essential arts and sciences classes with nursing courses.

Our program meets the requirements of the New Mexico State Board of Nursing. Our graduates are qualified to sit for the NCLEX-RN examination. Graduates of the AASN program can then complete a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing which is offered at the University level.

Graduates can find employment in any healthcare setting.

Practical Nursing Program Information

The Practical Nursing program provides education and training in nursing skills, patient care, and medical knowledge.

Students learn about patient assessment, medication administration, wound care, and supporting patients' hygiene and comfort. Graduates of the program are prepared to take the NCLEX-PN licensing exam and pursue careers in hospitals, long-term care facilities, and other healthcare facilities where they contribute to patient care teams.

Our program meets the requirements of the New Mexico State Board of Nursing. Our graduates are qualified to sit for the NCLEX-PN examination.

Nursing Refresher Program

The Nurse Refresher program is designed to meet the educational needs of nurses who have been out of the clinical setting and desire to re-enter the clinical workplace; and/or as part of the New Mexico Board of Nursing (BON) requirement for licensure reactivation.

Nursing Refresher Theory

The focus of this class is to expand the nurse’s knowledge by applying information related to new technology, current nursing trends, and legal requirements to previously acquired formal education and competency.

Nurse Refresher Clinical

The 72-80 hour precepted Nurse Refresher Clinical should be performed within four weeks of completion of the Nurse Refresher Theory (online), but no later than six months of the temporary license issuance. Successful completion of both parts of the class is required to receive a certificate of completion.
