Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (AASN) Program
The CNM Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (AASN) program has limited seats and requires a screening process before registration. Learn more about the criteria and deadlines through our Coordinated Program Entry. Designed to address the local healthcare workforce shortage, this program equips you with the necessary skills to enter the nursing field and advance your career.
You will develop clear communication, critical thinking, and compassionate care, with instruction in the classroom, lab, and clinical settings. The program culminates with a one-on-one practicum experience in real healthcare environments. CNM’s nursing program meets the requirements of the New Mexico State Board of Nursing, and graduates are qualified to take the NCLEX-RN exam. Graduates can pursue further education, including a bachelor’s degree in nursing, and find employment in various healthcare settings.
Practical Nursing Program
The Practical Nursing (LPN) program at CNM provides you with essential nursing skills, including patient assessment, medication administration, and wound care, while also ensuring patients' comfort and hygiene. Graduates are well-prepared to take the NCLEX-PN licensing exam and work in hospitals, long-term care, and other healthcare facilities. CNM’s program meets the requirements of the New Mexico State Board of Nursing, ensuring you are ready to pursue your LPN career.
Nurse Refresher Program
The Nurse Refresher Program is ideal for nurses who have been out of clinical practice and wish to re-enter the workforce or fulfill the New Mexico Board of Nursing (BON) requirements for licensure reactivation. This program covers both theoretical knowledge and clinical experience, with courses focused on new technologies, current nursing trends, and legal considerations.
The Nursing Refresher Theory course is offered online and refreshes your understanding of modern healthcare practices, technologies, and legal requirements, building upon your existing formal education and competencies. The Nursing Refresher Clinical requires 72-80 hours of supervised clinical work. You must complete this within four weeks of finishing the theory course or six months of receiving your temporary license. Both parts are required for certification, and WIOA funding may be available.

CNM-UNM Nursing Dual Degree Program
If you are looking to pursue both an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing at CNM and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at UNM, the CNM-UNM Nursing Dual Degree Program is a great option. It is designed for students who want to stay in their community. Though based at CNM, you will be co-enrolled at UNM to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
