HESI A2 Exam
Dates
The HESI A2 Exam is required in order to pursue entry into the CNM Nursing Program. A 75% on all sub-tests and a 75% composite score are required. The HESI A2 is also used by the University of New Mexico College of Nursing and is required for nursing students pursuing the NMNEC ADN/BSN co-enrollment option.
Other HWPS CPE programs may allow the HESI A2 as an alternative to the TEAS exam.

You must pre-register for the exam; no students without registration will be allowed to take the exam. Seating is limited for each date and registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Seating is not guaranteed until the exam fee has been paid.
Once you have registered and paid for your exam, you will need to go to the Elsevier HESI Registration page to create your Evolve username and password. You must bring this user name and password to the exam and any retests.

Additional Information
- A photo ID is required for check-in.
- Please arrive 15 minutes prior to start of exam.
- No outside materials will be allowed (i.e. cell phones, books, notebooks, calculators, electronic devices, etc.).
- You will be provided a calculator, pencils and paper.
- Additional resources such as a conversion table or periodic table will not be provided.
Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy
The HESI A2 Exam is non-refundable. Cancellations or reschedules will only be accepted in the event of a family emergency or illness. Documentation will be required and approval will be at the discretion of CNM Ingenuity leadership.
Please plan ahead. The CNM Workforce Training Center will always offer at least two exams per month. New dates will be posted as the current dates close or run.
HESI A2 Exam Information
The HESI A2 is a computerized exam consisting of six (6) sections: grammar, reading comprehension, vocabulary and general knowledge, biology, chemistry, and math. You will have 4.5 hours to complete the exam. Results of the exam are good for one (1) year. You are only allowed to take the test twice in any twelve month period. The second attempt must be a minimum of 45 days after the first attempt. The third attempt may be scheduled one year after the second attempt.
Applicants should prepare for this exam. There are several kinds of study materials available. The CNM Libraries have test prep materials available at no charge at https://subjectguides.cnm.edu/exam-prep. There are free resources as well as resources for CNM students with log-in.
