CNM's Physical Therapist Assistant program will equip you with the knowledge, skills, and professional behaviors needed for a rewarding career.

In this six-term program, you will work closely with licensed physical therapists, helping patients of all ages improve mobility and perform everyday activities. You will learn how to deliver evidence-based physical therapy while respecting each patient’s unique needs, including their age, gender, and cultural background.

The PTA program combines classroom learning with hands-on clinical lab work and patient simulations. You will also complete three full-time clinical education experiences under the guidance of a clinical instructor, giving you real-world practice and preparing you for a dynamic career in physical therapy. Be ready for a full-time schedule, as the program’s demands vary to reflect the real-world nature of this profession.

CNM's Physical Therapist Assistant associate degree is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), ensuring you meet the highest standards for your field.

Admission

Admission to the PTA program is competitive and based on a selective process managed by CNM’s Coordinated Program Entry (CPE) Office. Sixteen students are accepted each year, with classes beginning in the Fall. To apply, fill out the Pre-Registration Screening Form and visit the CPE Office for important dates and details. When the number of qualified applicants exceeds available seats, a lottery system will be used.
