Are you a current lead teacher? Serving as a Cooperating Teacher is an excellent opportunity to expand your leadership skills and mentorship for a teacher candidate while they complete their field/practicum hours in your classroom.

CNM Education Programs seeks Cooperating Teachers for the following program areas:

Post Baccalaureate: Alternative Teacher Licensure Program
Post Baccalaureate: Alternative Teacher Licensure Program
  • Hours: 180
  • When: Fall/Spring
  • CT Requirements: Level 2 or 3, 5+ years teaching, must be able to support 180 hours of student contact in the classroom.
  • Description: Teacher Candidates in the CNM Alternative Licensure Program have practical classroom teaching experience under the supervision of a Cooperating Teacher and CNM Faculty Supervisor.
Associate Level: Early Childhood Program
Associate Level: Early Childhood Program
  • Hours: 60
  • When: Fall, Spring, Summer (infants and toddlers ONLY)
  • CT Requirements: Associate degree or Higher in a related field, three years' experience, must be the lead teacher in a classroom.
  • Description: The purpose of the Early Childhood Education practicum field experience is to provide students with the opportunity to observe and participate in various classroom environments and activities. Spending time in an early childhood classroom allows students to gain practical knowledge in early care and education.

  • Hours: 45 *General Education, 10 Hours Special Education
  • When: Fall/Spring
  • CT Requirements: CT can hold a level 1 license but cannot be on an Alternative License. They must have three years' experience in the classroom, be highly recommended by the Admin, and coordinate 10 hours of special education experience for the teacher candidate. 
  • Description: The EDUC 1190 practicum class requires that students spend 45 hours in a public-school classroom over the 15-week semester.
