Credit for Industry Credentials
Academic credit is awarded to students with current licenses and certificates who are working toward a degree or certificate within the same field, or a related field, to which they currently obtain a license or certificate.
There is a $25.00 fee to process your request. You may pay the fee at the Cashier's Office or online at the CNM CPL Store. If paying online, please make sure to include a copy of your receipt with your request.
Approved Industry Credentials
The following industry certifications and licensures are currently accepted as Credit for Prior Learning at CNM.
1. Find out if your industry credential is already approved for college credit. You can:
- View specific courses to request credit for the most popular certifications
- View all approved industry credentials by program area, or
- View all programs for which you can earn credit by the credential issuer and title.
Note: If your industry credential is not listed, you may request an evaluation.
2. If you have one or more of the credentials listed, download and complete the CPL Request form that is linked.
3. To submit your request for credit, simply present the completed CPL Request form, a copy of your license or certification, a copy of your government issued photo identification, and proof of payment to any Enrollment Services Office or email all required documents as attachments to [email protected] to initiate the approval process.
Please allow 10 business days for credit to be applied to your student record, once requested. An Evaluation of Prior Learning takes two to four weeks. If credit is awarded, it will be applied to your academic record within 10 business days.

Students who are only requesting credit for either the Certiport IC3 (BCIS 1110) or CPR Certification (HLTH 1001 or HLTH 1003), may use the request forms below.

If you have a current, verifiable industry credential that is not listed and it is directly related to your program of study, you may submit a Request for Evaluation of Prior Learning along with a copy of your credential to the Grad & Eval Office at [email protected]. Your request will be forwarded to the appropriate CNM school(s) to evaluate your credential for equivalency to CNM courses. There is no fee for evaluations.
